We have witnessed yet another attack on two oil and chemical vessels in the Gulf of Oman, near the Straight of Hormuz. This is in the midst of some sort of escalation between the US and Iran. The US has officially stated that the Iranians are responsible for the attack and later this evening, the Defense Department released video and photo footage of an alleged Iranian vessel next to one of the tankers – removing what is believed to be an un-exploded mine. Despite this geopolitical story, stocks on Wall Street rallied with the energy and financial sectors leading the way. After all, there are profits to be made in war and someone (Big Banks) need to finance the war machine. This is a sick society when the real possibility of war causes equity prices to rally.
