As we make our way further into 2020, the Presidential race is sure to heat up. The New Hampshire primary is tomorrow evening and it’s likely that we’ll start to see some of the fringe candidates begin to suspend their campaigns. It must be understood that the race for the White House is a state by state contest and so we take a little time today to go over some of the states that are likely going to be the battleground states for 2020. It’s a race to 270 electoral votes and President Trump and his team are very well aware of this and it’s one of the reasons why he is the President. Therefore, the Democrats have to understand this as well and focus on these battleground states if they want to take back the White House. It’s always tough to beat an incumbent President in the United States, but it is possible.
On another note, the White House released their budget and it’s a whopping $4.8 trillion! This is insanity and is no where near draining the swamp. In fact, this is the exact opposite – it is feeding the beast. Where are all the fiscal conservatives? Because this budget, will guarantee a deficit of over $1 trillion. Now, it must be understood that the President does not control the purse strings. This power resides with the Congress. As such, it’s unlikely that this budget in its current form will pass. Nonetheless, it is likely that the total budget will be near that amount and we already know that trillion dollar deficits are not going away anytime soon. These projections also, do not take into consideration a recession. If a recession does occur, and we believe that one will within the next year, then the deficit(s) will be well north of $1 trillion.
