Another day. Another trade headline. Yesterday it was the US is in no hurry and the President would actually prefer to wait until after the 2020 election. And today, there’s going to be a deal – from an unnamed source. The abuse of power, fraud, and corruption that are on display is disgusting to this Republic and it’s coming from all angles – even from the highest levels of our government. Despite weaker numbers on the non-manufacturing PMI hitting 2009 levels and a dismal ADP jobs number, markets pressed higher on the back of the trade headlines.
Politically, the impeachment circus was back in town with four law professors being questioned about the impeachment process and a history on the thinking of the Founders as it relates to impeachment. There were some heated moments that had nothing to do with the facts at hand, but nevertheless, this is what made headlines and will likely be used by the White House and Republicans as a mean to distract the general public away from the facts of the case – which are not good for the President.
Separately, there is a report by the Wall Street Journal, claiming that the US is seriously considering sending 14,000 troops along with ships and other hardware to the Middle East. Presumably to deter an attack from Iran. When all else fails, they take us to war. Let us pray for peace.
